the politics of lonely

about this release

The Politics of Lonely has an obvious connection with When I'm Gone, Silencio’s previous record released in 2012. Both albums had a long gestation period - from 2006 to 2011 - are centered around Julien Demoulin and mainly Bernold Delgoda, a similar narration (an intro, five A side pieces, three on the B-side, the first of which lasting over 10 minutes in duration) and a refined visual identity. However, The Politics of Lonely cannot be reduced to being a simple replication of When I’m Gone.

When Julien Demoulin sent us the first mixes from the album, he presented The Politics of Lonely as Silencio’s rock album. Although fans of the Rolling Stones may raise an eyebrow when hearing the record, this is undeniably a rock album, albeit in Silencio’s universe -think Talk Talk’s Laughing Stock or Pan American. It means more rhythm - drums appear almost on the entire record - more melodies and dynamic structures, without denying the contemplative essence, brightness and melancholy that the group has been working on for six albums. Masterfully produced, The Politics of Lonely offers a new aspect of Julien Demoulin and his henchmen's talent.

The Politics of Lonely is available on vinyl, CD and download.
