Even though solo albums tend to be self-portraits, this one’s different: it’s as if Manuel Troller has created a self-portrait, only to abandon the idea. La Tène & Louis Jacques and Jacques Puech & Guilhem Lacroux and Jérémie Sauvage. 2xLP La Tène is back with a double invitation to its third full length LP. The hurdy-gurdy/harmonium/percussions trio welcomes two bagpipes (cabrettes and 23” to be exact), and a combo of string instruments (12-string guitar and electric bass). Beyond the instrumentation, we’re looking at a gang of high esteemed guests: Jacques Puech, Louis Jacques, Guilhem Lacroux and Jérémie Sauvage, whom works are given their due credit (with the La Novià collective and its multiple variations, the France group, Super Parquet, the Standard-In-Fi label, etc.), are at ease with fuelling the traditional ball dance floor (literally in its wooden meaning) as well as questioning it, confortable with sparking dance moves as well as pushing instruments and their sound to their ultimate limits. La Tène’s music doesn’t alter itself, it is always at the conjuncture between obsessive repetition and fragmented traditional music, hence developing a mineral depth on an obstinate pulse. Where one hears an instrument, its mirror unburdens until the confusion. (...)Total length : 82 minutes and 04 seconds.One-time pressing of 500 copies.2xLP : 25 CHF.CD : 15 CHF.digital : 10 CHF.
FILIPE FELIZARDO AND THE THINGS PREVIOUS VOLUME VI - THE SUN RISES IN YOUR TUMMY AND OTHER CHRISTMAS ILLUMINATIONS A radiating gateway though not necessarily the obfuscating shine following the sprawling bleak tone poem of Volume IV - The Invading Past and Other Dissolutions, but an assumed labour of love notwithstanding. Volume VI - The Sun Rises in your Tummy & Other Christmas Illuminations is a circle engulfing light & shadow in a recurrent orbit of simultaneous capture & release. Blues ghosts bounded to an eternal present, its existence plugged into electricity, no beggining no end. (...)Total length : 40 minutes and 01 seconds.LP : 16 CHF.digital : 7 CHF.

Estrela is the third chapter of Norberto Lobo’s solo records on three:four. If it is easily identifiable by the black and white photography by António Júlio Duarte on the front cover, the music brings some newness: for the first time under his own name, Norberto Lobo is playing with a trio composed of Yaw Tembe (trumpet), Ricardo Jacinto (cello) and Marco Franco (drums). For many months, he had been playing with Ricardo Jacinto, Marco Franco and Yaw Tembe - first in different duos, later in trios, and finally in the final formation in quartet - to create new arrangements for Lobo’s compositions. Misztériumok is the third full-length record - their first on three:four - of Italian duo Amuleto, composed of Francesco Dillon and his cousin and three:four’s artist Riccardo Wanke. Following the route of previous releases this new album emerges as the fusion of composed and improvised forms and moves between contemporary and electronic music mixing acoustic, electronic and real world sounds. The music takes shapes from a progressive disclosure of sonic material that gradually manifests its nature: at times aggressive and distorted, other times ephemeral and intimate. The Xvoto Reels provides additional proof (if necessary) that Razen is an audacious group. If the Belgian band led by the duo Brecht Ameel and Kim Delcour has explored different musical worlds with changing formations, the involuntary irruption of a sixth “member” has upset the content of this new album. When I recall the five days of Norberto Lobo and Eric Chenaux's September 2015 residency at Le Bourg in Lausanne, Switzerland, the first thing that comes to mind is Eric's enthusiasm for my partner Anne’s salad dressing. "Out of the crystal clear and warm cosmic perennial waters comes forth another sparkling jewel from Anahita (Tara Burke (Fursaxa) and Helena Espvall (Espers). Two elves dancing amidst gnarled branches of ancient trees and fragrant herbs, concocting a magical potion for the mind of floating medieval cello spheres and melancholic ceremonial madrigals under the blinking eye of a pale moon and far off constellations of shooting stars." Late Superimpositions is a (relatively) new collection of original songs by Danny Oxenberg (one of the lead vocalists, guitarists of Supreme Dicks) and Bear Galvin. Of this album, Sing Sing writes: This record is one more riddle, a new hieroglyph to be discovered under the glimmer of a deaf lantern, one more reason to believe that ghosts are among us and that they can’t stop dying of love. Artwork by Hippolyte Hentgen. Album produced by Maxime Guitton. Text by Sing Sing In the last three decades, no other band has surpassed The Supreme Dicks in mystery. Text by Eric Chenaux “Talking to yourself is more about listening than speaking.” Alice In The Cities – Wim Wenders Fornalha sounds more like the work of an open format radio program or some Root-strata summer mix tape than a document of a guitar recital. The image of a musician as DJ is one that allows us to think about the musician as a listener, rather than a performer; listening rather than reciting. Norberto Lobo is a mind-bending musician, strangely and effortlessly modulating psychedelic ideas to the guitar. (...)Total length : 33 minutes and 56 seconds.LP : 15 CHF.CD : 12 CHF.digital : 7 CHF.
Around the theme of the ocean symbolising the subconscious, the hidden world and a very personal concept of "loisiveté" a combintion of idleness "oisiveté" and law "loi", Maninkari continues exploring a weird and dreamlike world. As usual, the Charlot brothers resort almost exclusively to the use of acoustic instruments with oriental origins (bodhran, cymbalom, santoor, zurna). Percussion instruments especially the bodhran play melodic or textural figures, whereas stringed instruments become repetitive to a point where they embody the rythmics. The combination of repetition and oriental tones create a heady sound continuum providing the 10 nameless tracks with a mantra-like resonance. A short breathing in the middle of the album with an organ and birdsong is the only quiet moment of this tormented (but without violence), and meditative (but without bliss) record. The permanent state of tension recalls the rigours of law and repetition provides the calm alternative of idleness "l'oisiveté". Sometimes music can be as simple as two people playing together. French guitarists Imagho (We Are Unique Records / Alara music) and Mocke (We Are Unique records, member of Midget!, Holden, Arlt and Swann) gathered together for two days at the end of december 2013 at Imagho's studio, and recorded eleven tunes in the simplest way possible: live! Two men, two guitars, four mics, and that's it. These eleven tunes are of Imagho's composition, written for his Guild acoustic guitar, beautifully enhanced by Mocke's lush Jazzmaster sound.
