At the beginning of the 80’s, the experimental musician from Paris Thierry Müller, known under the Ilitch stage name, decides to launch a new dance project called Ruth. The result is a conceptual experimental new wave album entitled Polaroïd/Roman/Photo, released in 1985. It was a commercial failure and Thierry Müller gave up that project to begin new recordings with Ilitch and Crash.
During the years 2000, Polaroïd/Roman/Photo is rediscovered and praised. The title-track appeared on several compilations and the album was republished in CD and Deluxe LP format in 2010 to celebrate its 25th birthday (Pitchfork - 8.2, NME - 8/10, Vice - 9/10).
Moved by Mushy’s voice and musical universe, in 2009, Thierry Müller contacted the Italian artist to talk about a possible collaboration. The story began in November in a studio in Rome. The musical atmosphere and colour of the first sessions and editing brought back Müller to Ruth’s roots. Far From Paradise is the result of this partnership.

From the start, curiosity pushed Thierry Müller and Mushy to book a studio in Rome. Intrigued by the combination of their universe, they spent three days improvising with Luciano Lamanna.
