Manuel Troller

biography

Born 1986 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

In addition to perfoming solo, Troller composes music for and plays guitar with the trio Schnellertollermeier (Cuneiform Records), and with the writer Michael Fehr. Troller plays freely improvised music with the band Tree Ear Trio (with Gerry Hemingway and Sebastian Strinning on Clean Feed Records), and as a duo with percussionist Julian Sartorius and bass clarinetist Hans Koch.
He has also collaborated with Sophie Hunger, Gerry Hemingway, Julian Sartorius, Hans Koch, Frantz Loriot, Stephan Eicher, Merz, Michael Fehr, Christian Weber, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Christoph Erb, Philipp Gropper, Keefe Jackson, among many other musicians.
Troller has toured Europe, the USA, Canada, China, Russia, Sibiria and Japan.
He has also performed in different constellations at the Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Glastonbury Festival (UK), Olympia Paris (FR), FIMAV Festival International de Musique Actuelle Victoriaville (CA), Cafť OTO (UK), Haldern Pop Festival (DE), Pohoda Festival (SK), Bad Bonn Kilbi (CH), Jazzfestival Saalfelden (AT), North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Jazzfestival Willisau (CH), London EFG Jazzfestival (UK), Cheltenham Jazz Festival (UK), Jazzfestival Moers (D), Enjoy Jazz Festival Mannheim (DE), Zemlika Festival (LV), Leipziger Jazztage (DE), 12 Points Festival (IRL/SE), Match & Fuse (UK), Jazzfestival Skopje (MK), and other festivals.
He has taken part in one-off, double-bill concerts with Marc Ribot, Lee Ranaldo, Tetuzi Akiyama, Alan Licht, and others.

Vanishing Points is his first solo record.
