Jeremy Lemos is an American sound engineer and musician living in Chicago. He is the touring sound engineer for many bands including Sonic Youth, Pavement, Iron & Wine, and The Shins. Lemos also ran the Chicago recording studio Semaphore Recording for over ten years, and produced records for Smog, Loose Fur and Jim O'Rourke.
Involved in many musical projects, his main outlet has been White/Light, a duo with guitarist Matthew Hale Clark. White/Light has performed at The Cartier Foundation in Paris, The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and many other venues around the world. In 2010, White/Light produced a month-long, site-specific sound and performance installation at the MCA Chicago; the piece utilized over a dozen performers interacting with two multi-track analog tape machines running hundreds of feet of tape loops through thirteen amplifiers for twelve hours each day.
He is currently obsessed with modular synthesis.
Jeremy Lemos + Matt Jencik - split series vol. 5
In a reaction to the collaboration between Matthew Hale Clark and Ken Camden, both active members of white/light and Implodes from Chicago, their friends and colleagues Jeremy Lemos (from white/light) and Matt Jencik (from Implodes) are also releasing a split record for us. Needless to say that sharing two records with members from those bands we love is a huge honor.
Jeremy Lemos is a real sound artist. (...)
